Not asking for one to be made, cause it already is :O In eternal calm and munkie island, the textures for the gates load way faster. And I mean the kawoosh and the event horizon. No gray or fuzzy :D

So can we have the preloader too? :3

Edit: No I never got the "beta" gates, so I don't have the preloader >:O

Hey everybody!

I realize that I've been MIA for the past, well, while. I'm loaded up with classes at uni and that is causing me to have a lack of time to maintain the network. However, I wanted to give you an update as to where I currently am with the network.

1) ASN 2.0 is essentially completed. It needs to be tested, and have any new features we may have come up with recently added in... but it does work.

2) The new website will be based on Drupal. I'm sick of maintaining my own CMS and dealing with its buggyness. If anyone else has a suggestion for an easy to integrate CMS, please let me know!

3) The name2key / key2name has been discontinued due to people spamming it and killing our servers. We have no plans for this service to return.

4) The forum will be going away and replaced with a simple blog, unless there is great opposition to this.

5) We will be utilizing a third party support system for support (see: Zendesk, etc) instead of our current support system (IRC, forums, support ticket, it doesn't work well together)

6) Terminals are a thing of the past, and we will no longer have any AFVI services due to HTTP-IN.

7) The gate network will be greatly simplified, and an API will be created to let people create their own gates. Things such as the "User Gate Profile" (list of gates in your profile "Web" tab) will be removed as they are not worth maintaining.

-------

Hopefully winter break will allow for more work on this, and you guys will see a upgraded network coming your way! For now, enjoy the network and let me know of any pressing issues.

Zach

Ice Brodie on "Adding a glyph for "Stargate: Equestria""

Between Bronies becoming a fairly popular internet subculture, and there being an actual fanfic for MLP and Stargate SG-1, I would like to request that the Equestria PoO be added to the PoO selection.

For pic: http://illogicallabs.com/images/sgequestria.png

For the Fanfic: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/05/story-stargate-equestria.html

I for one found the fanfic to be a good read, the SG-1 characters are as true to form as possible given what they're working with (small talking pastel equines). I blame Stargate: Equestria for why I'm into MLP, I'm actually not alone. I'm including it here to show what this is all about.

There used to be a set of rules re SG placement .. Orientation and SIM TP points etc .. I was "/d random"gly tonight and in the 6 I did .. I never once landed at the gate ... on 4 I had to use Phoenix Area search to find the gate and on the other 2 I just gave up after either landing in abandoned land and face landing in the dirt or just not finding a gate .. .... Do we still report "out of spec gates" ?? and what's the rules could not find them on the site

Ivy Sunkiller on "So how can you actually get a gate now?"

Hey there! I'm kind of new, Ash has sent me the package and I've been working out with it quite nicely, made my own DHD already and what not, but that's not the topic :).

Since I got the gate I've been viral advertising it to folks, and this brings me to a problem - the release package is practically not obtainable atm:

1) The 'Get' page here - it didn't work for me, neither did it work for anyone else I know (character not found on grid).
2) Subnova Citadel in world - I assume the sim closed? Not the first one, not the last one :).
3) SL Exchange - got closed, the gate is not on the new Marketplace (this would be the easiest and most effective way to propagate them?)
4) Apez.biz - that site seems to have issues of their own and registering there is next to impossible.

All in all, you really can't get a gate unless someone sends you one (like I've got it).

If anyone came up, developed, and released something similar before, shoot me. Otherwise, I claim this to be named Sunkiller Visual Protocol!

Prototype, full-perm, freebie device (yes, that's Cerberus logo there, that's what I use on my chevrons in my little ME cross-over, I'll put something else there once I've more time).

The idea is simple:

Send 4:3 (for convenience) image UUID over chatter after establishing wormhole with the name of "_SVP_" (so it gets ignored by "radio" like the SGC chatter), example:

send chatter|_SVP_|459b9ff3-ad0f-0160-2bc1-f323840ba606|1

Obviously, reading is same way:

chatter|_SVP_|<texture UUID>

Grab a texture, slam it on a prim. I've it working in my WIP DHD (dial Blackbird) and there is a very basic screen at friends place (dial Extropia Beta), both sending and receiving, should you need a test.

Anybody ever have their gate raise its shield seemingly by itself? One of my gates, of the Pegasus type, had its shield raised when I logged on today.

It definitely wasn't me who raised it, because it was used today (not be me).

Just found that interesting and wondering if there's any reason it might happen?

I think everyone already noticed that, when you dial ot a stargate wich were busy, their connected wormhole will close by a cut power.

If we try to look at the Stargate network knew in the show, when they dial to a busy gate the stargate stop dialing like it actually does and that's all, the already done wormhole stay connected.

To apply the actual problem to real life, imagine : You are calling your cousin by phone, but the line seems to be busy, you don't close their call, you just hear that annoying sound and they continue to speak withotu you and without knowing that you tried to dial.

The stuff to try to fix or change is the cut power when the busy gate got a dial attemp from an other gate.

I have noticed that most often then not, even at the Subnova gate, when you are TPed in by gate, you appear, BEHIND the EH..that means with the Death system active unless you wait for the gate to shut down or walk around the gate...you are unable to really EXIT through the gate on arrival at some locations. Other then removing the Death System is there anyway around that?

As it is showed in the API documentation: dial <succ/fail>|<region>|<pos>|<nw>| <name>|<alias>|<owner>|<sgc id>|<rot>

When using the following script (at the bottom) as a basic proof of concept, the following issues occur

1) The event horizon is unresponsive to clicks.
2) The gate itself is unresponsive to clicks.
3) If a "/stargate reset" is issued via channel zero, the gate will not respond to attempts to dial it until "/stargate restart" is issued, and another reset is issued, upon which the gate seems to reset twice.
4) "/stargate test incoming" and "/stargate test outgoing" will not work until the gate is restarted and reset.

Sincerely,

Hey guys, and thanks for reading this. :-)

I would like to recommend that you add a maturity rating feature to the stargate, which does not allow the stargate to dial a Maturity Rating above a certain level.

For example:
If the owner selects not to allow the stargate to dial a Mature sim, it neither dials a mature sim, nor an adult content sim.

Thanks again for reading this guys. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm working on my own DHD, and could use some tips on how to get the buttons to light up on each chevron lock. Here is my current code, granted it works fine when you dial slowly, but when you dial quickly, every button goes blue on the first chevron lock, which is expected due to the chevron++ being 1 for each button on their initial press.

integer stargate;
integer chevron = 1;
integer glyphused = 0;
string glyphcheck;

{
    state_entry()
    {
        stargate = llListen(-805000, "", "","");
        if(glyphused != 1)
        {
            state dial;
        }
    }

    listen(integer channel, string name, key id, string message)
    {
        if( message == "chevron " + (string)chevron + " locked" )

Edward Towton on "Ring Placement Problem"

I currently have two ring platforms set up on my land. Both are embedded within a slab of walkway.

I think I'm following the instructions correctly. However, every time I arrive on one of the platform, I'm thrown backward toward the platform I just left.

When I move my second platform off the walkway slab and onto the grass, I have no issues.

I may just be missing something really stupid, but any help would be appreciated! I like the rings and want to use them, but can't have travelers getting thrown through other people's buildings.

Thanks!
