In preparation for the RC1 release of the ASN project in Second Life, major improvements have been made to the website, including the adoption of WordPress for blogging and bbPress for forums, replacing phpBB. These changes aim to create tighter integration across services. Users are encouraged to subscribe to the blog for weekly announcements and updates.
The Alpha-Fox team is migrating all websites and services from the Poseidon server to a new server, Frenzy, due to low CPU usage on Poseidon. Services related to Second Life, including OS Labs and DHD registrations, will be temporarily unavailable during the DNS transition. An update will be provided once the migration is complete.
The Subnova network underwent downtime for an IP address change as part of an upgrade to fiber-optic internet, improving bandwidth to 3Mbps both ways, with potential future upgrades. After delays due to provisioning and IP allocation, the switch was completed on May 23. Subnova services are now running on fiber, and special thanks were given to Billy for resolving the final issue.
The Alpha-Fox server Daedalus was decommissioned due to frequent downtime caused by DNS and IP changes, as well as router issues that took too long to fix. The server is now being sold on eBay to contribute to a MacBook Pro purchase. The remaining active servers for Alpha-Fox are Chimera and Poseidon.
The service experienced server issues that led to the loss of its entire user database, but it has now returned with a new gate version. Old gates will no longer function, and users are encouraged to test the new system, find bugs, and report them on the forums. The issue is now considered resolved.
